My husband was recently awarded a voucher for a 2 night stay at Mount Grace Country House & Spa which we enjoyed over the long weekend in March. Mount Grace is located just an hour’s drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria and is the perfect getaway for a romantic weekend to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The Country House is surrounded by 10 acres of lush gardens overlooking the magnificent Magaliesburg Mountains.

We arrived late on Friday evening and after we checked in and was shown to our room we ventured down to The Twist Restaurant for a scrumptious country style buffet. There was a wide variety of food for all tastes and my favourite was their selection of sushi that they had on display for all to eat.

The weather was slightly overcast on Saturday so we spent the morning by the heated pillar pool which felt like a treat in the cool weather. After a lazy morning by the pool we decided to order lunch in our luxury room and enjoyed our meal on our large verandah overlooking a spectacular view.

The Health Spa is perched right at the top of Mount Grace and has the best views of the Magaliesburg and offers an ideal environment to unwind and ease away the stress of our daily busy lives. The Spa is built in the indigenous bush, with small streams running through, the stone and thatch of the bush spa blends in beautifully with the surroundings, to offer the ultimate relaxation. I had booked two spa treatments for the late afternoon so after a lazy afternoon sleep I strolled up to the Spa and prepared for my heavenly treatments.

On Sunday morning we had a nice sleep in before getting ready to check out after our wonderful stay. We enjoyed our last breakfast and made sure we sampled every course they had on offer for the day, and then headed home feeling relaxed and ready for the week ahead!
