Accommodation – 46 Voortrekker Cottage Located in the centre of town, the thatched-roof cottage with its white-washed walls dates back to 1871. The spacious self-catering house is ideal for families or a group of friends. The main bedroom has a king size bed and en-suite bathroom with shower and victorian bath. A small nursery off the main room with bunk beds is ideal for parents with young kids. A second spacious bedroom can be made up as a king or twin room, with en-suite bathroom with shower. At the end of the “road to nowhere” in a quiet valley just outside Robertson lies the historic 19th century village of McGregor. Although located only a 180km from Cape Town, it’s the sense of isolation that adds to McGregor’s charm, with beautifully preserved thatched roof cottages set amongst apricot orchards, vines and olive groves. The typical Little Karoo climate brings hot summer days with clear night skies, and cold winters with occasional snowfall on the surrounding Riviersonderend mountains.
