South Africa

It is hard for anyone not to fall in love with South Africa – abundant wildlife, stunning beaches, friendly people, outstanding accommodation, restaurants, and a world of experiences. From the deserts to the forest-fringed coastline of the Garden Route; from the flat, dry Karoo interior to the craggy Drakensberg Mountains; from the vineyards of the Cape to the wilds of the Kruger National Park, South Africa is exceptionally diverse. I count myself so lucky to be living in this magnificent country and I look forward to sharing my experiences of South Africa with you.

Things to do

  • Take the cable way or hike up the Iconic Table Mountain
  • ‘Be seen’ on Camps Bay, Cape Town’s most famous beach
  • Sample some of South Africa’s top wines
  • Self-drive along the scenic Garden Route
  • View the spectacular annual migration of the Southern Right Whale
  • Encounter the ‘big 5’ in the Kruger Park

Cape Town and surrounds

Cape Town is one of the world’s most beautiful cities with a fascinating history, interesting culture, stunning mountainous scenery, white sandy beaches, award winning wines, and laidback lifestyle. Your time in Cape Town can be packed with adventure and sightseeing. Or it can be spent eating out at some of the countries’ top restaurants and visiting the many wine estates to sample some of our excellent wines. My best experiences in Cape Town are watching the exquisite sunset over Clifton Beach, and enjoying a picnic in Kirstenbosch botanical gardens.

Garden Route

The Garden Route is incredibly diverse, from stretches of beach and craggy cliff faces, to locked away lagoons, rivers, ravines and lakes. And let’s not forgot the forests and the mountains for those who enjoy walking and hiking. The forests are filled with hundreds of birds, antelope, bush pig and other small mammals. I enjoy hiking along the many trails that traverse the beaches and rugged cliffs of the breath-taking coastline.

Safari

South Africa offers some of the best game viewing opportunities in Africa because of its huge variety of animals, incredibly diverse landscapes, and easily accessible wildlife reserves. See the ‘big 5’ in the Kruger Park, take the family on a malaria free safari to Madikwe or the Eastern Cape, or go and see the endangered Rhino in the Hluhluwe Umfolozi National Park. Going on safari is one of my top experiences in South Africa – being so close to nature and the wilderness reawakens all of my senses. A wildlife safari is a must for anyone visiting South Africa for the first time.
